The purpose of the Third Order is the sanctification of the individual member and of those for whom members of the Third Order are responsible. It is a religious Order which penetrates into Christian homes in the midst of the world permeated with modernism. Its spirit is centered on devotion to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It is the spirit which animates the Priestly Society, i.e., the spirit of the Church, its living Faith, manifested in all of her Tradition, her infallible Magisterium, expressed and explained in the Catechism of the Council of Trent, in the Vulgate Bible, in the teaching of the Angelic Doctor St. Thomas Aquinas, and the immemorial liturgy. To save the world, St. Pius X counted on fervent Catholics devoting themselves to the apostolate by word and action, but above all by example.
