Legion of Mary

The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the sanctification of its members developed by prayer and active sanctification of one’s neighbour. Every legionary is required to carry out a weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary. He is, in essence, an extension of the heart and hands of Mary and of the pastor. Works include teaching catechism, visiting and praying with the sick, spreading Catholic literature, sponsoring study groups and supporting foreign missions. There is also an auxiliary branch which does not do active works or attend meetings, but which does say daily the Legion prayers to support active Legionaries worldwide.
